Winter is coming, and with it comes the hazards of cold and some home owner tasks. Here is just a small list of items that you will want to do before the first snow falls.
- Take the snow blower out of storage and be sure to have it serviced
- Check for extra gloves, hats, snow shovels
- Drain outside houses and cover faucets
- Have your furnace inspected
- Have your fireplace cleaned and inspected
- Check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
- Check and clean gutters and inspect chimney
- If needed, add additional insulation to walls
- Caulk and weather-strip doors and windows
- Install storm doors and cover windows with plastic from the inside
- Insulate any water lines that run along outer walls
- Install easy-to-read outdoor thermometer.
