According to the Omaha
World Herald, Omaha is a pretty great place to live, work and play. Which of
course the majority of us who get to live, work or play here already knew
right! We are often know for tour hot spots such as the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo
the Joslyn Art Museum , which are great way to spend the day with family and
friends, but did you know there is even more off the beaten path. So let’s take the next few days and explore
those great things about Omaha that are off the beaten path.
9. Chill with a few
skaters.
Roberts Skate Park,
730 N. 78th St., is a 14,000-square-foot complex made of concrete. It caters to
various skill levels. Urban elements include ramps, stairs, quarter pipes, a
grinding block and fun box. Across the river, Broadway Skate Park, 15th Street and Avenue A in
Council Bluffs, features a snake run, 4-foot bowl, fun box, rail, stairs and
quarter pipe. Open year-round during daylight hours.
He’s a 50-foot aluminum sculpture near the entrance of the
Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.
11. Feed the raccoons.
Eat finger-lickin’ chicken at Alpine Inn, 10405
Calhoun Road, then toss your leftover bones to the neighborhood raccoons. Trust
us — once you’ve seen a dozen critters scrambling for leftovers, you’ll be back
for more. 451-9988.
12. Glance at really old
buildings.
Omaha’s Old Market is a favorite with locals and tourists any time
of year. This is a historic mixed-use district with rugged brick streets,
condos, galleries, live theater, boutiques, pubs, restaurants, street
musicians, horse-drawn carriages and coffeehouses. Harney to Jackson Streets
and 10th to 13th Streets.http://www.oldmarket.com/
